“One Of The Abducted Oriire Schoolchildren Has A Hole In The Heart, Discovered Accidentally” – LAUTECH CMD
One of the 39 pupils rescued from the Oriire school abduction has been diagnosed with a congenital heart defect, which was discovered during a comprehensive medical evaluation at the LAUTECH Teaching Hospital, Ogbomoso .See More. .
The Chief Medical Director of the hospital, Professor Olawale Olakulehin, disclosed this on Tuesday, explaining that the child’s parents were unaware of the condition before the assessment .
“The child has a hole in the heart, which was discovered during our medical evaluation. There is no cause for alarm because the child is stable and responding well,” Olakulehin said .
He added that the hospital has commenced necessary medical procedures and will notify the Oyo State Government to facilitate the next phase of treatment .
The discovery was made as the hospital discharged 31 of the 39 rescued pupils after certifying them medically fit to reunite with their families.
Eight others remain on admission for continued observation and treatment.
