Troops Neutralise Eight Bandits in Katsina Military Raid

In a decisive military operation early Tuesday morning, troops under Operation Fasan Yanma neutralised eight suspected bandits along the Kurfi–Batsari axis of Katsina State.

Military sources confirmed to OndoPress that the offensive was part of a coordinated effort to dismantle criminal hideouts in the region.

During the encounter, the troops engaged the bandits in a fierce gun battle, resulting in the death of eight assailants and the recovery of various weapons and equipment used by the group.

One soldier sustained injuries during the operation and is currently receiving medical attention at a military medical facility. Authorities say the officer is in stable condition and expected to recover fully.

This successful engagement sends a strong message to criminal elements operating within Katsina and neighbouring states,” a senior security official stated, noting that such offensives would continue until the region is free from insurgent threats.

The operation has been described as a morale booster for security forces and a relief for residents who have endured prolonged insecurity.

Troops are said to be maintaining a heavy presence in Kurfi and adjoining communities to prevent any form of retaliatory attack.

Katsina, like several North-Western states, has been a hotspot for armed banditry in recent years.

However, security agencies affirm that sustained operations like this are crucial in restoring normalcy and protecting civilian lives.
