Sumner Sambo:  Buhari Tackled Poverty Better Than Tinubu

Naija News reports that Sambo made a remark on Monday during an interview on The Morning Show, Arise Television’s programme.

The editor noted that Buhari’s administration (2015–2023) introduced more structured poverty alleviation schemes compared to what he described as the “slow and poorly coordinated” efforts under Tinubu.

Sambo said, “Yes, indeed, he may not have personally done so much in terms of uplifting the people of Kaduna State, in terms of poverty figures and all of that.

“But you will agree with me that having been central to ensuring that Muhammadu Buhari won the election in 2015 and some of the strategies put in place by Buhari between 2015 and 2023, you will agree with me that that government actually seemed to have performed better in terms of, you know, rolling out poverty reduction programmes than the Bola Tinubu administration when it comes to the issues of tackling poverty.”

Sambo further argued that the exit of former Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Beta Edu, left a vacuum in the Tinubu government’s poverty alleviation efforts.

“Since the sack of Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Beta Edu, whom I think was actually doing well for the Bola Tinubu administration, the appointments that have gone to the poverty alleviation and humanitarian ministry under Tinubu have been very poor.
