The directive was contained in a statement issued by the command’s Public Relations Officer, Ibrahim Abdullahi, and made available to journalists on Tuesday.

Abdullahi said Bodinga gave the order upon assuming duty as the new state commandant, charging officers and men to intensify efforts in safeguarding national assets against the activities of vandals and criminal elements.

“Upon assumption of office as the newly posted State Commandant of Corps, Kano State Command, Comdt Bala Bodinga tasked officers and men to rededicate themselves to the pivotal task of securing the nation’s critical assets and infrastructure.

“The state Commandant directed that henceforth midnight/24-hour patrols and surveillance must be embarked on by the operatives of the Corps to ward off the activities of vandals and criminal elements in the nooks and crannies of the state,” the statement read in part.

Born on February 7, 1973, Bodinga had his early education in Sokoto State before proceeding to Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, where he obtained a Bachelor of Education degree in Hausa Language.

He has attended several professional training programmes, both locally and internationally, including Drills and Parade with the Nigerian Army 4th Battalion Guards, Lugi Barrack, and Civil-Military Coordination at the Nigerian Army Peacekeeping Centre, Jaji Barracks, Kaduna.

Over the years, he has played active roles in joint security operations that advanced the NSCDC’s mandate. Prior to his current posting, he held several strategic positions across Nigeria and was once briefly deployed as the State Commandant of Corps in Kebbi State before being recalled to the National Headquarters for another national assignment under the leadership of Dr. Ahmed Audi.

This comes on the heels of a nationwide red alert earlier declared by the NSCDC across all tactical and intelligence units in response to rising cases of vandalism and sabotage targeting vital infrastructure.
