BREAKING NEWS: Fire Guts  Six-storey Afriland Tower, Staff Reportedly Jumped Out Of Window In Lagos

A major fire outbreak occurred on Tuesday afternoon at Afriland Tower, a six-storey commercial building, housing a United Bank for Africa (UBA) branch, located along Broad Street in Lagos Island, causing panic among occupants and disrupting business activities in the area. .. In a video obtained by Ondopress, people said to be staff of the UBA are seen scrambling for safety, using a ladder to climb down.

One of staff, who jumped out of the window without using a ladder, appeared injured. The extent of the injury is unclear at this time.

Confirming the incident, the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service said the fire originated from the inverter room in the basement of the building, which houses offices.

The incident was reported at 13:38 hours, prompting an immediate response from fire crews stationed at Ebute Elefun and Sari Iganmu.

Heavy smoke quickly spread across multiple floors of the building, forcing a chaotic evacuation of people within the building.
