Media mogul and political figure, Chief Dele Momodu, has officially resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), declaring that the party has been βhijacked by antidemocratic forces.β
In a statement released on Thursday, the former PDP presidential aspirant confirmed his immediate exit from the party, citing what he described as an erosion of internal democracy and external interference.
βOur party has been unarguably hijacked by antidemocratic forces, from within and outside, in broad daylight,β Momodu stated.
He further announced his alignment with a newly formed coalition under the African Democratic Congress (ADC), describing the move as βan honourable path forward for true democrats.β
βIt is, therefore, honourable to abandon the carcass of the party to them while the majority of us earnestly sign up with the new coalition party known as the African Democratic Congress (ADC),β he added.
Momodu expressed appreciation to party leaders and supporters who stood by him during his time in the PDP.
The resignation comes amidst growing internal divisions and political realignments following the death of former President Muhammadu Buhari earlier this week.
