BREAKING NEWS: NECO Releases 2025 SSCE Results, Records 60% Pass Rate, Blacklists 38 Schools, 9 Supervisors

The National Examinations Council (NECO) on Wednesday released the 2025 Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE) results for school-based candidates just 54 days after the last paper announcing stronger performance and fresh disciplinary measures to safeguard exam integrity.. . Registrar/Chief Executive, Prof. Dantani Wushishi, told journalists at NECO headquarters in Minna that out of 1,367,210 candidates who registered, 1,358,339 sat the exams.

818,492 candidates (60.24%) obtained at least five credits including English and Mathematics.

84.26% achieved five credits and above irrespective of English and Mathematics.

Wushishi hailed the improved pass rate and a sharp drop in malpractice: 3,878 candidates were involved in cheating, down from 10,094 in 2024, attributing the decline to tighter monitoring by NECO’s Governing Board and senior officials.

“We maintained appropriate standards and excellence from planning to release. Our zero tolerance for malpractice remains firm,” he said.

Sanctions Coming:
NECO flagged 38 schools in 13 states for alleged mass cheating and will summon their managements before imposing penalties.

Nine supervisors three from Rivers, three from the FCT, and one each from Niger, Kano, and Ogun have been blacklisted for compromising exam integrity.

Wushishi also revealed that communal clashes in Adamawa State disrupted exams in eight schools, forcing suspension of 13 subjects. Discussions are ongoing with the Adamawa Government to reschedule the affected papers.

Hinting that these may be the last SSCE results under his leadership as his tenure ends July 2026, Wushishi commended NECO staff for “professionalism, discipline, and relentless pursuit of excellence,” saying their effort has strengthened NECO’s credibility among students, institutions, and..  Read . .More
