Police Disburse N46.9m To Families Of Fallen Officers In Akwa Ibom

The Akwa Ibom State Police Command has disbursed a total of N46,995,139.32 to families of police officers who lost their lives in active service, while also decorating newly promoted officers within the command.. . Read ..Full.. Article.. .

The command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Timfon John, in a statement on Wednesday in Uyo, said the cheques were presented by the Commissioner of Police, CP Baba Mohammed Azare, to the beneficiaries under the Group Life and IGP Family Welfare Schemes.

The initiative was designed to provide financial support to families of officers who paid the supreme price in the line of duty.

“In a move to support the families of fallen police officers and recognise the dedication of its personnel, the Akwa Ibom State Police Command, on behalf of the Inspector General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun, disbursed a total of N46,995,139.32 in welfare schemes,” the statement read.

Commending the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, for the gesture, Azare said the funds serve as a reminder that the Force has not forgotten the sacrifices of its fallen officers.

“This support is a demonstration that the Nigeria Police Force values the sacrifices made by our colleagues who died in active service. It is our hope that this assistance will serve as a vital support system to their families,” he said.

Beneficiaries of the cheques expressed gratitude to the IGP and pledged to put the funds to good use.

Alongside the disbursement, CP Azare also decorated newly promoted officers to the rank of Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) at the State Headquarters, Ikot Akpan Abia, Uyo.

He charged them to view their promotion as a call to higher responsibility.
