The governor of Borno State, Babagana Zulum, has released N3.4bn in outstanding scholarship to foreign students for the payment of tuition and accommodation fees. . Read ..Full.. Article.. .

The payment also covers residence permits, visa extension costs and a three-month upkeep allowance.

Dr Bala Isa, the Executive Secretary of the Borno State Scholarship Board, disclosed this at a news conference on Tuesday in Maiduguri.

“This substantial fund has been approved specifically for the payment of all outstanding academic and welfare expenses for 301 brilliant sons and daughters of Borno, currently pursuing various undergraduate and postgraduate degrees in institutions across the world.

“It covers students, specifically in the People’s Republic of China, the Republic of India, Malaysia and the Arab Republic of Egypt.

“This approval ensures that their academic pursuits will continue uninterrupted, allowing them to focus solely on their studies and excel in their chosen fields,” he said.

The executive secretary urged the students to reciprocate the state government’s gesture by dedicating themselves to their studies, remaining law-abiding ambassadors of Borno and striving for academic excellence.

“This singular act is a powerful testament to His Excellency’s deep-seated belief in the power of education as the most critical investment in our state’s future.

“In the face of numerous competing demands, Governor Zulum has consistently prioritised human capital development, understanding that the greatest resource Borno can cultivate is its people,” the executive secretary said.
