Reasons Ex- APC National Chairman Ganduje Missed Tinubu’s Kano Visit – Aide To Former APC Chair Reveals

The immediate past National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, was absent during President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s condolence visit to Kano on Friday due to a pre-scheduled personal engagement in London, his aide has clarified.

In a statement issued on Saturday, Garba, the former Chief of Staff to Ganduje, dispelled media speculation suggesting that the former chairman was either ill or intentionally excluded from the President’s delegation.

He stated that Ganduje had travelled to London for a longstanding private commitment, just five days after his resignation from the party’s national leadership.

“Despite frantic efforts to reschedule his flight and itinerary, the logistics made it impossible for him to return in time. Dr. Ganduje made every effort to adjust his plans but was unable to do so,” Garba explained.

He noted that while abroad, Ganduje remained in constant contact with top party stakeholders, including Deputy Senate President Senator Barau Jibrin and APC Kano State Chairman Alhaji Abdullahi Abbas, to ensure seamless coordination of the President’s visit.

Garba further stressed that Ganduje’s resignation has not affected his close relationship with President Tinubu, describing their bond as one built on “years of mutual respect and political alignment.”

He also reaffirmed the unity and loyalty of the APC in Kano, stating: “The APC in Kano remains fully united, loyal, and committed to the vision and leadership of President Tinubu. The party stands solidly behind the Renewed Hope Agenda.”

President Tinubu visited Kano on Friday to offer condolences following the passing of notable figures in the state.
