Fayose Blames Nigeria’s Population Growth on Lack of Electricity, Says Darkness Drives Early Nights
Former Ekiti State Governor and Chairman of the Rural Electrification Agency, Ayodele Fayose, has linked Nigeria’s rising population to the country’s persistent electricity challenges, joking that early darkness leaves Nigerians with little to do at night.
Fayose said that when electricity is unavailable and darkness sets in early, people tend to stay indoors and retire to bed earlier, increasing intimate activity and, consequently, the population.
He argued that improved electricity supply would promote nightlife and provide Nigerians with more activities after dark.
