JUST-IN: Fresh Details Emerge On Kidnapped Plateau Lawmaker

Fresh details have emerged following the abduction of the lawmaker representing Pankshin South Constituency in the Plateau State House of Assembly, Laven Denty Jacob.

LeadNaija News had earlier reported that gunmen whisked away Jacob on Monday night at his residence in the Dong area of Jos North Local Government Area.

While neither the state government nor security agencies had issued a statement as of Tuesday morning, a family member confirmed the incident in an interview with Daily Post.

The source, who pleaded anonymity, said Jacob was abducted shortly after returning home from an outing with friends.

“We suspect he was trailed from where he had gone to hang out with his friends because immediately the gateman opened the gate for him to drive in, the gunmen emerged from their vehicle and whisked him away,” the relative said.

The source added that the abductors have yet to contact the family or make any ransom demand. “As we speak, the abductors of Hon. Denty Laven Jacob have not reached out to the family to make any ransom demand and we do not know anything about his condition at the moment,” he added.

Residents say the Dong community has become increasingly unsafe, with criminal gangs terrorising locals.

“Dong is becoming quite dangerous these days. Just last week, a popular social media food vendor and her brother who is a corps member were kidnapped in the same Dong and were only released after their family reportedly paid ransom,” the family member lamented.
