‘Wrong Man Arrested?’ CCTV Footage Casts Doubt on Suspect Accused of Killing Two Anti-Gang Police Officers and Two Women

Questions have emerged over the arrest of 23-year-old Reagan Cheslin Collis in connection with the murders of two Gauteng Anti-Gang Unit officers and two women in Reiger Park, Ekurhuleni.

While police believe Collis is the alleged shooter, a source who viewed CCTV footage disputes this and claims the wrong man may have been arrested.

Collis appeared in the Boksburg Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday, facing four counts of murder, attempted murder, two counts of robbery with aggravating circumstances, and charges relating to unlicensed firearms and ammunition. His case was postponed to August 25 for a formal bail application after his arrest during a multidisciplinary tracing operation.

The victims were Constables Thapelo Tlomatsana, 29, and Sphiwe Sibeko, 28, together with civilians Roleen Lessing and Jaydin Margerman. They were shot at about 7.30pm on Friday, August 7.

CCTV footage reportedly shows a man approaching the women’s red Volkswagen Polo before shooting them, then fleeing towards a silver-grey Polo hatchback.

According to IOL, footage allegedly shows a man believed to be Collis in the yard before and after the shootings, wearing a hoodie, blue jeans and white sneakers.

It is also alleged that Collis confronted the shooter after seeing him. Collis’s arrest followed the recovery of two R5 rifles, while the Hawks have been asked to clarify the evidence against him.
