EFCC Arrests Nigerian Socialite Nzube Henry Ikeji Over $2.5M ‘Fake Dubai Prince’ Scam Targeting Romanian Businesswoman
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arrested Nzube Henry Ikeji, a Nigerian socialite, over allegations that he impersonated the Crown Prince of Dubai to defraud a Romanian businesswoman of $2.5 million.
The arrest came days after the Organised Cr+me and Corruption Reporting Project (OCCRP) released a documentary exposing the alleged fra+d.
According to the OCCRP, Ikeji, 31, reportedly approached the victim, known only as Laura, on LinkedIn under the guise of investing in humanitarian projects in her country.
Over two years, he allegedly developed an online romance with her, even proposing marriage and persuading her to cover the costs of their supposed marital engagement.
Ikeji then directed Laura to Dr. Martins Abhulimhen, 60, who posed as his financial manager in London. The victim reportedly wired over $2.5 million to accounts linked to Ikeji in Nigeria and Abhulimhen in the UK.
Both men are said to be well-connected, having been photographed with high-profile Nigerians, including the Inspector General of Police Kayode Egbetokun, Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Senate President Godswill Akpabio, and other influential figures.
They have also been linked socially to prominent businessmen like Obi Cubana and Arthur Eze.See more details. .
