Indonesia Enforces Social Media Ban for Under-16s Over Addiction And Other Safety Concerns
Indonesia has begun enforcing a ban on social media use for children under 16, citing growing concerns over online pornography, cyberbullying, and internet addiction.
Communications minister Meutya Hafid warned that digital platforms must comply with the new rules, saying there is “no room for compromise” for businesses operating in the country.
Platforms such as X and Bigo Live have already adjusted their minimum user age to align with the regulation, while other social media companies are expected to immediately update their products, features, and services to meet the requirements.
TikTok confirmed its commitment to enforcing the ban and taking measures to manage under-16 accounts in coordination with the ministry.See more, details. .
