Nigerian Newly Employed Prison Officer Landed In Trouble For Trying To Deliver Drugs To An Inmate In USA Prison

A recently hired officer with the Alexandria Sheriff’s Office in the U.S. has been fired and charged after allegedly attempting to bring dr¥gs into a local jail.

The officer, Amarachukwu W. Igwe, joined the department in July 2025 and was arrested on April 4, before any narc+tics reached inmates at the Alexandria Adult Detention Center.

Investigators say Igwe intended to deliver the drugs to a prisoner, but the sheriff’s internal investigations team discovered the scheme and acted before the substances entered the facility or reached the general population.

Igwe was processed at the Arlington County Detention Facility and now faces charges including delivery of drugs to prisoners, conspiracy to deliver drugs to prisoners, and possession of a Schedule III controlled substance.

Sheriff Sean Casey confirmed her immediate termination, emphasizing that the department will not tolerate breaches of trust or security.
