Hon. Abejide Dumps ADC, Cites Crisis and Legal Battles
Member representing Yagba East/Yagba West/Mopamuro Federal Constituency in Kogi State, Rt. Hon. Leke Abejide, has announced his resignation from the African Democratic Congress (ADC), blaming deepening internal crises, protracted legal disputes, and leadership uncertainty within the party.
Addressing journalists, the lawmaker described his exit as a difficult but necessary step to safeguard his political future, alleging that efforts were made within the party to frustrate his ambitions despite his longstanding contributions to its growth.
Abejide traced the crisis to a 2025 lawsuit he filed involving key party figures, including David Mark, Rauf Aregbesola, and Ralph Nwosu, accusing them of tactics aimed at delaying court proceedings.
He further cited advice from his legal team that the party’s leadership vacuum could hinder his eligibility in future elections, prompting him to seek an alternative political platform.
While he did not disclose his next party, Abejide maintained that his political structure remains intact and aligned with the “Renewed Hope Agenda” of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, even as he dismissed claims of expulsion and clarified remarks linked to Femi Gbajabiamila as taken out of context.Full Details. .
