Former Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello, has advised political aspirants in the state to embrace unity, patience and a service-driven approach as preparations for future elections intensify.

Speaking during a meeting with members of the Kogi State House of Assembly in Lokoja, according to a statement by his media office, Bello stressed the need for political maturity and collective progress.

He said: “Unite, be patient, serve people,” urging aspirants to focus on building lasting legacies rather than temporary political victories.

The engagement comes amid rising political activities and alignments following the emergence of Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo, Bello’s successor and ally, after the 2023 governorship election.

Bello, who led Kogi State from 2016 to 2024, remains influential within the state’s political landscape and the All Progressives Congress.

He congratulated aspirants who have secured nomination forms, reminding them that political office is temporary and true leadership is defined by impact and legacy.

He also cautioned against financial inducement for endorsements, directing that any aspirant who paid money should seek a refund.

Bello further encouraged reconciliation with constituents, stressing that unity, inclusiveness and grassroots engagement are key to electoral success.
