Practical Skills, Not Certificates, Will Shape Nigeria’s Future — President Tinubu Informs Graduates
President Bola Tinubu has emphasized that Nigeria’s future growth will depend more on practical skills than academic certificates, calling for stronger investment in Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) to boost youth empowerment and economic development.Continue »
He made this known at the combined convocation and 70th anniversary celebration of Kaduna Polytechnic in Kaduna, where 60,803 graduates from the 2015/2016 to 2024/2025 academic sessions were honoured.
Tinubu, represented by the Minister of State for Education, Prof. Suwaiba Ahmad, said the country is moving beyond an era where certificates alone guarantee success, stressing the importance of entrepreneurship, innovation, and hands-on skills in a modern economy.
The President reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to strengthening educational institutions and creating opportunities for young Nigerians through initiatives such as the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) and the Students’ Venture Initiative under the Renewed Hope Agenda.
He also urged Kaduna Polytechnic to embrace digital innovation to enhance learning and remain globally competitive.
