Throwback: MKO Abiola in 1994 – “I Reject the Peace of a Graveyard,” Called Election Annulment ‘Political Armed Robbery’
In his final interviews before imprisonment in June 1994, Chief MKO Abiola, the acclaimed winner of the June 12, 1993, presidential election, issued a powerful message to his followers. He encouraged them to embrace peace but firmly rejected the “peace of a graveyard” – a quiet submission to military tyranny.
Speaking after the annulment of the historic election, which he described as “political armed robbery” during his 1994 Epetedo Declaration, Abiola stood defiant against the military regime of General Sani Abacha.
