Activist and Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC) member Aisha Yesufu has urged Nigerians to become actively involved in politics, warning that staying neutral is no longer an option because political decisions already affect everyone’s lives.

Speaking during an interview, Yesufu said the growing public attention surrounding the NDC and its candidate shows the party is gaining momentum. However, she stressed that the bigger issue goes beyond political parties.

According to her, Nigerians must unite to ensure that no government or political party takes the country for granted.
“This is not the time to stay on the fence. ‘Oh, I’m not doing politics.’ Politics is doing you anyway,” she said.

Yesufu called on citizens to see themselves as the true opposition, insisting that they must protect the integrity of their votes and ensure that the candidates they elect are the ones declared winners.

She also reiterated her earlier warning that the 2027 general election would be a defining moment for the country.
“We’re fighting for our lives, and we’re fighting for the soul of Nigeria,” she said, describing the election as a crucial battle for the nation’s future.

The activist urged voters not to leave polling units after casting their ballots but to monitor the movement of election results from polling units through ward, local government and state collation centres.

She added that Nigerians should be prepared to peacefully mobilise through lawful protests or other democratic means if the electoral process is compromised.

According to Yesufu, citizens must remain vigilant until the votes they cast are accurately reflected in the final results.
