BREAKING: FG Approves ₦286 Billion Maritime Projects
Maritime Projects Approved by FEC:
Two marine pollution control vessels at approximately ₦59.05 billion, intended to address plastic pollution and other marine waste in territorial waters, creeks, and inland waterways.
Six pilot cutter boats at approximately ₦80.03 billion, to support the transport of marine pilots and assist vessel navigation in port channels.
Two firefighting boats at approximately ₦34.06 billion, for emergency response to fires involving ships, oil terminals, and waterfront facilities.
Capital and maintenance dredging of the Escravos Channel at ₦112.85 billion, via a joint venture with the Nigerian Ports Authority and private partners, to improve channel navigability and maintain maritime infrastructure.
Representing the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Minister of Environment Balarabe Abbas Lawal announced that the Federal Executive Council has approved four key maritime projects aimed at modernizing the country’s port infrastructure and fostering the development of the blue economy.
