Aiyedatiwa to New Appointees: Work for Ondo People, Deliver Results

Ondo State Governor, Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, has charged newly appointed commissioners, special advisers, Tutors-General, and members of various commissions and boards to justify their appointments through competence, integrity and measurable results.

Aiyedatiwa gave the charge during the swearing-in and inauguration ceremony for the new appointees at The Dome, Akure, stressing that public office is a responsibility entrusted to them by the people and not a reward.

The Governor urged the appointees to place the interests of Ondo State residents above personal, political or sectional considerations.

He directed them to operate as “one administration and one team,” warning against rivalry, bureaucratic bottlenecks, mediocrity and abuse of public trust.

Aiyedatiwa Announces N769.38bn Revised Budget

A major highlight of the Governor’s address was the announcement of an increase in the state’s 2026 budgetary framework from N524.411 billion to N769.384 billion.

The additional funding is targeted at critical sectors, including road construction, water supply, healthcare and other infrastructure projects. Recent reporting indicates that the revised budget represents an increase of about N244.973 billion.

As part of the administration’s road programme, the Governor has directed that at least five kilometres of roads be constructed or rehabilitated in each of the 18 local government areas, translating to a minimum of 90 kilometres across the state.

The road programme is expected to improve connectivity and access to markets, schools, healthcare facilities and other essential services across urban and rural communities.

Appointees Told to Uphold Transparency

Governor Aiyedatiwa also urged the new appointees to familiarise themselves with the administration’s OUR EASE development agenda and ensure that government policies and expenditures are implemented transparently and in accordance with due process.

He stressed the importance of accountability, urging the appointees to ensure that government programmes translate into tangible benefits for residents.

The Governor further charged them to serve with humility, excellence and integrity, while ensuring that every institution placed under their responsibility is left stronger and better than they found it.

The Aiyedatiwa administration has continued to highlight infrastructure development and public service delivery as key areas of its governance programme. The state government has also reported ongoing road rehabilitation and other infrastructure interventions across the 18 local government areas.
