Barcelona News: Áron Yaakobishvili Signs Contract to Join Almería From Barca
Barcelona goalkeeper Áron Yaakobishvili has signed his contract to join Spanish club UD Almería, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.
The 20-year-old Hungarian goalkeeper is set to continue his development away from Barcelona after Almería reached an agreement to bring him to the club.
Romano reported that Yaakobishvili has completed the contract formalities for his move to Almería, with the goalkeeper now preparing for the next stage of his career.
There have been differing reports about the exact structure of the agreement. Recent Spanish reporting had indicated that Barcelona and Almería were working towards a permanent transfer worth around €2 million to €3 million, with Barcelona retaining a significant share of the player’s future economic rights.
However, the latest report attributed to Romano describes the move as a loan arrangement with a buy option involving 50 per cent of the player’s rights from 2027.
Because the reports differ on the final structure, the precise financial terms should be treated with caution until the clubs provide official confirmation.
Yaakobishvili developed through Barcelona’s academy after joining the club as a young player.
He spent the 2025/26 season on loan at FC Andorra, where he made 21 appearances in Spain’s second division.
The goalkeeper had also been involved with Barcelona’s first-team group during pre-season before his departure became increasingly likely.
Reports said he was left out of the squad for the trip to Basel as negotiations over his move to Almería progressed.
His move gives Yaakobishvili an opportunity to continue developing through regular senior football, while Almería gain a young goalkeeper with experience in Spanish football and a background in Barcelona’s highly regarded youth system.
What the Move Means for Barcelona
Barcelona’s decision regarding Yaakobishvili’s future reflects the club’s approach to managing young players who need regular first-team experience.
The goalkeeper’s previous spell at Andorra gave him valuable exposure to professional football, and his move to Almería should provide another opportunity to develop at senior level.
The final financial and contractual details of the agreement will become clearer once the clubs officially announce the transfer.
