Three Occupants in Serious M13 Crash Near Richmond Road, KZN

A single-vehicle accident on the M13 highway has left a young child hospitalized and two adults trapped in the wreckage after their light motor vehicle rolled down a steep embankment.

The incident occurred on the Pietermaritzburg-bound carriageway near the Richmond Road area in the early hours of Saturday, March 21, 2026. Emergency services, including ALS Paramedics, responded swiftly to reports of a vehicle that lost control and veered off the road.

According to initial reports from the scene, the vehicle was carrying three occupants: a five-year-old child and two adults. The child was extricated and transported to a nearby hospital for treatment; their condition has not yet been disclosed. Rescue teams continue to work to free the two adults trapped in the vehicle at the bottom of the embankment.
