Governor Dapo Abiodun Says: Power Supply Challenges Won’t Be Solved In Three And A Half Years

Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, has said Nigeria’s electricity challenges cannot be fully resolved within three and a half years, stressing that fixing the power sector requires patience and long-term commitment.

Speaking at the 2026 APC National Convention, he admitted that power supply has been inconsistent in recent weeks. “From the common man’s point of view, we have had problems with power supply in the last couple of weeks, but we will not get it right 100 per cent in three and a half years,” he said.

He explained that despite huge financial investments by successive administrations over the years, the sector has recorded little meaningful progress.

However, the governor expressed optimism that improvements are gradually taking shape, adding, “But you know what, I think so far, so well.” Stating the power sector is expected to improve steadily over time, even if immediate results are not fully visible.
