Over 500 Households Displaced, Homes Damaged As Flood Hits Kaduna

No fewer than 545 households have been displaced and 171 houses damaged following two days of torrential rainfall in Kaduna North Local Government Area of Kaduna State..  .Read ..Full.. Article.. .

The Executive Secretary of the Kaduna State Emergency Management Agency (KADSEMA), Usman Mazadu, disclosed this in a statement issued on Tuesday in Kaduna.

Mazadu said the agency led a joint assessment of the affected communities to determine the extent of destruction and coordinate emergency response efforts.

He explained that the downpour, which lasted from September 4 to 5, forced responders to move from evaluation to urgent evacuation in some areas as floodwaters submerged homes and properties.

According to him, the multi-agency response team included the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), Christian Aid, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), the Nigerian Red Cross, and the Kaduna State Fire and Public Safety Agency.
