2027 General Elections: Former President Obasanjo Visits Kwankwaso in Kano, Sparks Political Speculation
Former President Olusegun Obasanjo paid a courtesy visit to Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) vice-presidential candidate, at his residence in Kano on Thursday.
Obasanjo was received by Kwankwaso and the state’s NDC governorship candidate, Comrade Aminu Abdulsalam Gwarzo. Kwankwaso’s media aide confirmed the visit but did not disclose details of their discussions.
Kwankwaso served as Minister of Defence during Obasanjo’s second tenure between 2003 and 2007.
The visit may signal political alignment ahead of the 2027 elections.
Obasanjo has a history of supporting Peter Obi, who is running alongside Kwankwaso.
Kwankwaso served under Obasanjo as Defence Minister.
The meeting could be part of ongoing coalition-building efforts.
No details of the discussions were disclosed.
The visit is likely to fuel speculation about political alliances ahead of 2027. More details may emerge later.
