26 Rescued, Nine Died In Lagos Building Collapse

The death toll from the collapse of a three-storey shopping complex in the Alakija area of Lagos has risen to nine. The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) said 26 persons have been rescued alive from the rubble, while search-and-rescue operations are ongoing.

Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu, LASEMA permanent secretary, said emergency responders have entered a critical phase of the operation, with sophisticated equipment deployed to reach “ground zero.” The building collapsed on Thursday, trapping several occupants.

The death toll has risen from two to nine.

26 people have been rescued alive so far.

Search and rescue operations are ongoing.
