Share This On:

Manchester City have officially lodged an appeal against the findings of the Premier League Commission in the club’s long-running disciplinary case.

The club confirmed that it filed its “comprehensive Appeal” at 7pm on Thursday, October 1, 2026, challenging the Commission’s opinion in relation to the Premier League disciplinary proceedings.

City Maintain Innocence

In its statement, Manchester City maintained that it is innocent of the accusations brought by the Premier League.

The club argued that the Commission’s opinion contains what it described as “clear material errors” of law, principle and fact, adding that the decision is therefore unsafe.

City also said it has substantial evidence supporting its position in the case.

Premier League Confirms Appeal

The Premier League has confirmed that Manchester City appealed the decision of the independent Commission.

According to the league, the appeal was lodged with the Chair of the Judicial Panel. The subsequent Appeal Board hearing will remain private and confidential until publication of the outcome is permitted.

The independent Commission had previously found Manchester City guilty of serious breaches of Premier League financial rules covering the period from the 2009/10 to 2017/18 seasons, as well as the majority of charges relating to the club’s cooperation with the league’s investigation.

Club Says Due Process Will Continue

Manchester City said it would continue to respect the legal and regulatory process and indicated that it was restricted in what it could publicly disclose while the proceedings remain ongoing.

The club had previously rejected the Commission’s findings and said it would pursue the available appeal avenues.

The outcome of the appeal will determine whether the Commission’s findings are upheld, amended or otherwise dealt with by the independent appeal process.
