Cristiano Ronaldo, Georgina Choose Living Room Wedding: ‘Family First’
Football superstar Cristiano Ronaldo and Georgina Rodríguez have revealed why they chose to exchange their wedding vows in the living room of their home rather than hold a lavish ceremony.
The couple married in an intimate civil ceremony on August 11, 2026, at their home in Cascais, Portugal, with their five children at the centre of the special occasion.
Speaking exclusively to Vogue, Georgina explained that the decision was driven by the importance of family and the memories they wanted their children to associate with the occasion.
She said they deliberately chose the living room where the family normally spends time together.
“We chose the living room where we have breakfast, lunch and dinner, where we live our everyday life.”
Georgina said she wanted the location to become a lasting family memory for their children.
“In 30 years, I want our children to think: something beautiful happened here at this table, our parents exchanged their wedding vows.”
The intimate ceremony reflected the couple’s desire to make the occasion personal rather than turn it into a large public celebration. Vogue described the wedding as intimate and centred on their family.
The couple’s five children were present for the ceremony, with the family later receiving a religious blessing at the Sanctuary of Fátima in Portugal.
The wedding also marked 10 years since Ronaldo and Georgina first met at a Gucci store in Madrid.
The couple had announced their engagement in 2025 before eventually choosing the private ceremony.
Despite the intimate wedding, the couple have not completely ruled out a larger celebration with family and friends in the future.
For Ronaldo and Georgina, however, the message behind their wedding was clear: the most important guests were the people who share their everyday lives.
