Nollywood Actress Nkechi Blessing Reacts After Phyna Defeats Her in Celebrity Boxing Match

Nollywood actress Nkechi Blessing Sunday has reacted to her defeat by Big Brother Naija star Phyna in a celebrity boxing bout held at the Federal Palace Hotel in Lagos on October 1.

Phyna emerged victorious in the highly publicised contest, reportedly winning a brand-new car and ₦50 million in prize money.

Following the fight, Nkechi took to social media to declare that the outcome would not change her belief that she remains a champion.

The actress suggested that she deserved recognition despite the result, while also pointing to her limited preparation for the bout.

Nkechi said she had only two days of training before stepping into the ring and indicated that she would now return her attention to filmmaking.

Celebrity Boxing Draws Attention

The contest between the two entertainment personalities attracted considerable attention from fans, turning a personal celebrity rivalry into a commercially promoted sporting event.

The bout also highlights the growing crossover between Nigeria’s entertainment industry and celebrity boxing, where public figures use high-profile contests to generate audience interest and social-media engagement.

While Phyna leaves the event with the victory and reported prizes, Nkechi’s post-fight comments have continued to fuel discussions among their respective supporters online.

The development could also influence interest in future celebrity boxing events involving Nigerian entertainers and reality-TV personalities.
