Cristiano Ronaldo Reveals Plans for Life After Football as Retirement Nears
Cristiano Ronaldo has revealed that he already has plans for life after football, as the Portugal and Al-Nassr star prepares for what could be the final stage of his remarkable career.
The 41-year-old forward opened up about his future during an interview with Vogue, explaining that he has already mapped out several activities and interests for the period when he eventually steps away from professional football.
Ronaldo said he has “a lot of things” planned for the future and acknowledged that retiring from the sport could leave a significant void after spending around 25 years competing at the highest level.
Rather than focusing on a single project, the five-time Ballon d’Or winner said he intends to keep himself occupied with several different activities.
Among his plans are travelling more, spending time with family and playing padel, a sport he has repeatedly expressed an interest in.
“I am ready to enjoy myself more, travel more, watch and play padel, which I love very much,” Ronaldo said in the interview.
The Portuguese star also reflected on the sacrifices required to sustain a career at the highest level, saying he wants to enjoy the rewards of the work he has put in throughout his playing career.
Ronaldo Hints at Final Year in Football
Ronaldo’s comments come after he gave his clearest indication yet that his playing career could be approaching its conclusion.
In the same Vogue interview, Ronaldo said the current year is “probably” his last in football and expressed his desire to leave behind a spectacular legacy.
The statement does not represent a specific retirement date, but it is one of the strongest indications Ronaldo has given about the possibility of ending his professional career.
He has spent more than two decades playing at the highest level, representing clubs including Sporting CP, Manchester United, Real Madrid, Juventus and Al-Nassr.
Ronaldo has also enjoyed an extraordinary international career with Portugal, winning the European Championship in 2016 and the UEFA Nations League on two occasions.
A New Chapter Beyond Football
While Ronaldo’s possible retirement would mark the end of one of football’s most celebrated careers, his comments suggest he is already thinking seriously about life beyond the pitch.
The forward said he wants to travel more, enjoy padel and make time for other interests after years of intense training, matches and professional commitments.
For a player who has spent approximately 25 years making football the centre of his life, the transition will represent a major change.
However, Ronaldo’s latest comments suggest he is approaching that next chapter with a clear idea of how he wants to spend his time.
His football career may be nearing its conclusion, but the Portuguese superstar appears determined to make the most of life after the game.
